There are a few lesser-loved franchises out there that I am a massive fan of. And, by some divine intervention, two of these are being featured in this week’s Wayward Roundup. There are also some whispers in the wind that an absolute gaming legend is coming back, so without further ado, let’s dive in.
Bandai reveals Digimon Up coming this year
This week, Bandai revealed the existence of Digimon Up, and I exploded. I adore Digimon. Gabumon is perhaps the greatest companion you could ask for. I am so excited. It seems like Up will be learning a bit into the Tamagotchi era of Digimon toys, which I miss. I loved my old Digivice.
You will be raising your chosen partner in adorable sprite form; feeding them, caring for them, and of course, battling them. A potentially interesting aspect is the cards and Digivices. These could just be collectibles for nostalgia, but I hope it’s the Digimon Tamers style of swiping cards to assist your partner in battle. Either way, it’s out this year, and I am ecstatic.
The rumour sparks possibilities of a Dragon’s Dogma 2 DLC
One of my favourite things about our community is that if a developer releases any form of artwork, everyone turns into Sherlock Holmes. Capcom unveiled a piece of 2nd Anniversary celebration art for Dragon’s Dogma 2, and now everyone is taking it as a sign of DLC. And I am fully on board, I loved both Dragon’s Dogma 1 and 2.
This hope boils down to two innocuous details. The first is a character bathed in blue light, with an outfit and hairstyle not released in-game. The second is that some geniuses deciphered the letter on the table as mentioning Gryphons coming from an area named Organ, somewhere we haven’t explored. Resident Evil Requiem had a photo mode within about 5 days. Capcom can give us a DLC for Dragon’s Dogma 2.
A possible Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake rears its head
Staying in the realm of possibility, there have been rumblings of a Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. Coming from Nate the Hate, a credible leaker, although take that with a pinch of salt, this should be with us in the later part of 2026. Obviously, Switch 2 only. And still not the Zelda game I want to buy a Switch 2 for. Wind Waker, my love, soon I shall buckle and purchase one.
It does not end there, however. According to Nate, Nintendo will announce a new Star Fox game next month. Whilst it would be fun to see Fox and friends back, obviously, Ocarina of Time is the lead here. It is iconic for a reason, and I am sure we would all welcome it back. Even the Water Temple.
Warframe releases the horror-themed Follie
Halloween has come early in Warframe with The Shadowgrapher, led by a terrifying new Warframe. Batman’s Joker in a mech suit, Follie is a sad clown, and wants to make that your problem. Their chosen weapon in ink, which sounds harmless until they drown you in enough of it to cause you to fear Bics for the rest of your life.
Their terrifying presence is put on full blast in Follie’s Hunt, and asymmetric 4v1 mode, where you and three friends must try to escape a labyrinth as Follie chases you down. You must collect ink to complete Canvases across the map, but each that you fill will power up the ink blot test from hell with more speed and more power. There will also be ink-drenched enemy factions chasing you down.
Since the release, players have had some issues with the balance. However, because Digital Extremes is full of kick-ass people, there’s already been a slate of upgrades based on feedback. So, a win for developer-player relations, and a loss for our sanity as Follie haunts our dreams. I don’t know how I feel about this.
OpenAI closes Sora and cancels Disney deal
This one might not be strictly gaming related, but any blow to AI is a win for humankind. OpenAI has closed its video-generating program, Sora. Whilst you can argue the benefits of this, AI is a huge threat to both jobs and global energy in general, so I will also celebrate when this stuff happens.
This, sadly, is not a sign that OpenAI is faltering, even with losing the $1bn Disney deal. Analysts have said it is the company shedding unprofitable parts of the business ahead of OpenAI starting to trade shares publicly. At least there will be fewer AI-generated videos floating around.
